Every repetition of an action perpetuates a system.
And if an action is not sustainable, it only accelerates the collapse of the system over time. To interrupt the repetition and start a positive change, you must have courage, vision and responsibility.
Companies can no longer set themselves a single goal, represented by the revenue. They must add another important corporate goal deal that deals with a more important purpose:
how to help making the world a better place.
1. How much will my new product impact the environment?
2. How much does it contribute to a better life for the people who work there?
3. How positively will it affect future generations?
Three questions that at the end of a research and development meeting can interrupt the repetition of an unsustainable model that is making our planet sick, weakening human relationships and is not laying solid basis for the future of next generations.
On 25 September 2015, the Heads of State and Government of the 193 countries that are part of the United Nations acknowledged the unsustainability of the current development model and signed the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development committing themselves to “save the world”. We all have a duty to contribute to the design and realization of a new utopia, in which equity and social, economic, environmental and institutional sustainability become practices, to build a new paradigm of human development, fully worthy of the name and respectful of the planetary limits.
The sustainable development is possible, it comes from the change that is already happening in so many people, especially in the youngest, in so many companies, in so many governments, who see the conversion of the current production model, of consumption and of organization of the society an extraordinary opportunity, indeed the only opportunity to be seized in order to avoid the next collapse and to improve our own future.
Master Italy is committed with three Ps (People, Prosperity and Planet) to:
– ensuring the dignity, equality and prosperous lives of workers;
– to protect the planet’s natural resources and climate for future generations.
We are all part of the change for a better tomorrow, we are all responsible for it. Our actions will influence the future of our children and the generations.
Correct lifestyles and individual actions will make the difference.
According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), we are less than 12 years away from having a chance to rectify our mistakes. In this time frame, unprecedented changes will have to take place in all aspects of society, including a reduction of at least 50% in CO2 emissions. The reason why we have to zero emissions is simple. Greenhouse gases trap heat, causing the average temperature to rise on the Earth’s surface. The higher the gas, the higher the temperature rise. We all have a duty to contribute to a better progress, in which environmental sustainability, social equity and economic prosperity (strongly interconnected) become the dominant paradigm, to build a new model of development of our civilization.
Sustainable development is possible, it comes from the change that is already happening in so many people, especially in the youngest, in so many companies, in so many governments, who see the conversion of the current model of production, of consumption and society organization as an extraordinary opportunity.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 objectives contained in a major action plan on which the governments of the 193 UN member countries have agreed. The SDGs serve to set common and measurable goals that encourage everyone – governments, companies like Master Italy – to act globally to achieve them, gathering and providing a wide variety of forces, knowledge and resources. This will make it possible to build alliances that push for a more prosperous, fairer and more equitable society.
There are 9 SDGs which Master Italy is committed to contribute to this epochal change, in which the main focus’ remain: People, Prosperity and Planet.
Download the MASTERABILITY Manifesto
People is the chapter of Masterability dedicated to the actions that the company enhance for its people.
It is the natural prosecution of the of the three years project People in which the objective is the increase of the welfare of the employees and improve the corporate environment. Always aiming at increasing skills and personal and professional growth. Because we have always believed that “a series of machines can do the work of 300 ordinary men, but no machine can do the work of an extraordinary team!”
It is the chapter dedicated to the actions that the company is putting in place to preserve the environment in which we operate and live.
These are initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact by acting both directly on production processes and on environmental policies, to support and encourage virtuous behaviour inside and outside the company walls. Being a sustainable company means constantly improving and above all facing every day the concrete commitment to safeguard our planet.
“Because the world is a beautiful place and for it is worth fighting for”.
Prosperity is a very broad concept dealing with a prosperous and healthy growth in various contexts such as economy, culture, art, environment, sustainability and human rights. Prosperity, therefore the common well-being, can be achieved only if men and women have the same rights and possibilities, this is the reason why Master Italy is committed to promoting equal opportunities for education, sustainability, art and nature to the local community. Prosperity is one of the three Ps contained in the manifesto of Masterability, the program of Master Italy responding to the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations, which in practice seeks to spread an economic and social welfare through different activities promoted on the territory.
“We are determined to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature”. Prosperity – Agenda 2030
