Master obtains EPD certification for all its product families

Master continues its commitment to reduce the environmental impact of its products. In recent years, the group has instigated the process of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and renewed its voluntary agreement with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security to reduce its carbon footprint. Initially undertaken solely to calculate the GWP100 (Global Warming Potential at 100 years) of every component, from this year the project has been expanded to other categories of impact, in order to obtain EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification  in compliance with The International EPD® System of the International EPD Programme Operator, AB. To date the company has obtained EPD certification for over 600 items, covering all its product lines.

EPD, the acronym of Environmental Product Declaration, is an internationally recognised environmental certification. It confirms a company’s commitment to monitoring and reducing the environmental impact of its products, and reporting these in a totally transparent way. With an EPD certificate, producers report data that is comparable, objective and verifiable by third parties which covers all aspects of the environmental performance of their products. Certification can be requested for all products; in particular, Master carried out a study on the basis of specific criteria for the certification of window accessories stipulated in the law EN 17610:2022 Building Hardware – Environmental Product Declarations – Product category rules complementary to EN 15804 for building hardware.

“Our commitment to a production system increasingly geared to the sustainability of our products and processes continues”, says Lorenzo Lafronza, Technical and BU OEM Director at Master. “We’ve moved to EPD certification, which is recognised worldwide and covers a broad range of items, thus simplifying the requests we receive from various markets. What’s more, in Italy, EPD-certified construction materials are acknowledged in public tender processes, in accordance with the decree on CAM (minimum environmental criteria)“.

All the EPD certificates of Master Italy are published in the certifications section of the website and are always available on the international ENVIRONDEC portal and searchable on the EPD Library – https://www.environdec.com/library and the ECO-PLATFORM portalhttps://www.eco-platform.org/epd-data.html
